On Friday, September 15th, we held our annual Saint Anne Parish School Jog-A-Thon! It was a great day of community building while working toward an important common goal for the children of Saint Anne Parish School! Thank you to the committee and to all the parents, grandparents, neighbors and friends who joined us and contributed.
This is our primary fundraiser for our school. We have been blessed in years past to use the financial resources to give our students many of their “wants” in the area of technology in addition to meeting current “needs” as well. To name a few investments, last year we updated our content filter, continued professional development in the area of technology for our teaching staff, and purchased tools such as document cameras, and Osmo sets to enhance instruction. In addition, we invested in Project Lead the Way Launch for our students in grades K-5. This Launch program will afford our teachers the tools and training necessary to inspire a love of process design, engineering, and robotics in our students while equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in STEM-related careers in the future.
We are excited to announce that this year, the monies raised will help to redesign and update our new and improved STREAM Lab/Media Center! We began our research last year (visiting other campuses, working with designers, surveying teachers, etc ).
Our dream is to transform the lab of yesterday and create a centerpiece learning environment for our new STREAM (science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and mathematics) programs which will allow for our students to work collaboratively or independently on design-thinking and challenge-based projects encompassing all curricular areas not limited to technology. This new innovative space may include tier seating, Makerspaces, adjustable tables for all ages, comfortable, versatile lounge furniture such as ottomans and cubes, possibly multimedia sharing tables paired with seating and access to power sources.
As soon as the final plans have been approved, a display board will be available for all to view. This will allow you the opportunity to see for yourself our hopes and dreams for that future space if financial resources allow.
