News From Our Classroom
How do we only have one week left?! Time is flying by and we can’t believe it’s the end of the year. It feels like it was just the beginning and we were all chatting at Back to School Night! Please read this newsletter carefully because there is a lot of important information enclosed. Thanks!
Math- We finished geometry at the beginning of the week and concluded the week with an end of the year assessment. It is coming home today. Please look for it and review it:) Every question represented a Common Core Standard. Please review the last page of the test. If your child has a standard circled on the back, that means they answered the question for that standard incorrect. Please focus on that skill over the summer and make sure they have that skill mastered going into 4th.
MAP MONDAY FOLDERS– These are also going home today. Please put these folders somewhere safe! They might be needed in fourth grade. Feel free to continue reviewing the information within the folder over the summer! THANK YOU!
Grammar- In the back of your child’s grammar book, you will find several extra practice pages. Please feel free to review/do these pages over the summer:) Grammar books will be coming home next week! This might save you the time and money purchasing a grammar summer workbook if you usually do:)
Science- What a fun week!!! We concluded our magnet unit and Mrs. Rebbeck came in to do some magnet experiments! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Social Studies- Flat Stanley is a busy friend and continues to teach us about many places around our country. This week he visited Wisconsin and California to just name a few! All posters must be turned in by Wednesday. We will continue sharing our famous people posters next week as well!
Reading- Fairy tale antagonists have never looked so good! The students did a wonderful job on the posters and their presentations. I am so proud of how much they have grown in their presentation skills and confidence in sharing with others this year. Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement with your child and their independent reading. I am wrapping up the end of the year letter leveling and students will have a letter level to use over the summer. A few weeks ago some of the librarians from the Barrington library came to visit and share about summer programs and the summer reading challenge they are offering. I know many of you have participated in a library program in the past. I encouraged participation in a summer reading program near you to help your child continue to support their reading level.
As a parish we are collecting extra school supplies for our sharing parish. If you have any extras at home, feel free to send them our way! If not, we will be going through our own classrooms and we’re sure we’ll have plenty to share!
Field Day- TUESDAY, JUNE 9TH! The third grade color to wear for the day is gray. If you do not have gray, wearing your tech-a-thon shirt is fine. Wear appropriate bottoms and gym shoes. Please print out a field day permission slip/lunch order and return them to school ASAP! All information is in the Cardinal Connection:)
MAP reports- Will be sent home via email on Thursday, June 11th.
Report cards- Will be sent home on Friday after the prayer service.
Hot lunch ends June 8th.
The last day of school is Friday, June 12th; the prayer service is at 9am and dismissal is at 1pm. There are no lunch periods on the last day
Have a fabulous weekend!
