News From Our Classroom
2017 is off to a fabulous start here in our classroom. We are on a roll!!!! We have covered the winter season and winter animals so far. We will be moving onto healthy foods, healthy bodies, and healthy planets soon. Then it will be the wonderful celebration of Catholic Schools Week, Ash Wednesday, and Lent.
We are starting our Jolly Phonics program which will run all the way until the end of the year. We also now have our furry friend, Hamilton the Cardinal, who will be making home visits to each and every student’s home over the weekends. Learning is so exciting down here in the Pre-K 3 class. The kids were especially excited with our first science experiment watching gummy bears change in water.
Just a reminder that with the cold weather we need to be sure the children are all appropriately dressed to go outside. Keep in mind that we do not go outside if it is below freezing. Fun ideas for days that you’re stuck inside due to the weather are: having an indoor picnic with blankets on the ground and reading stories; making homemade play-doh and building snowmen indoors (see recipe I handed out or google one); using cotton balls to make big snowballs and have an indoor snowball fight (they also sell a kit online specifically for this); reading a story and then watching the coordinating movie with a hot chocolate and popcorn treat; making an art project only out of items from your recycling bin; doing an easy cooking recipe with your son/daughter; do some preschool yoga or exercise videos and when they’re done let them shake their sillies out; and so many more fun things to do when you can’t play outside!
