St. Anne second graders enjoy a rich, faith-based learning atmosphere. Our curriculum exceeds the standard set by both the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Common Core Standards implemented by the state of Illinois. We differentiate to meet the needs of all students through a loving environment.
During second grade, we prepare the students for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Our children prepare through daily religious education and integrated prayer. Students learn about the Church calendar, parts of the mass, prayers, and social justice. We read and discuss the stories of the Bible while making meaningful connections.
Our hands-on learning math curriculum focuses on mastering addition, subtraction, time, money, fractions and more. We incorporate reading, writing, and reasoning throughout all lessons to enhance understanding.
Our language arts block allows for students to explore different components, such as spelling, reading, grammar, writing, and phonics. Our students are constantly encouraged to dig deep to enhance their reading comprehension, fluency, and interest. Through a variety of genres students are prepared for a lifetime of learning.
Integration of all subject areas allows students to become creative thinkers, advanced writers, and confident students. Second grade is a year of growing in faith, learning, and socialization.
